What's the best way to become a nurse and how long will it take? (Honest advice would be much appreciated!!)?

I've been thinking for awhile that nursing is the path for me. I'm passionate about helping others, am very much a people person and am a great caregiver. I already have a BA and have researched accelerated programs, but am having some difficulty narrowing down my options. I have not completed any pre-requisites so I'll need to somehow incorporate those into program of study. Does anyone have any advice for me?
