Ford Taurus help, please?

I have a 2006 ford taurus. A couple of weeks ago it broke down and was found out to be the onboard prosseor in the car wasn't talking to the fuel pump. That was replaced and all was good. Tonight we were at a light and when it turned green started to go but then it lost power. We pulled over and lifted the hood and found that when they the ford dealer was looking at it they didn't put the power steering cap back on properly and it was spewing fluid out from the cap. We put the cap back on properly and waited a few moments and the car started right back up. My husband thinks that is why it lost power because the cap wasn't on properly and it was loosing pressure, so to protect itself the car shut down. I don't know what to think.
